about
”Panda” is about fighting for justice from police brutality. After the shooting of Michael Brown on August 9, 2014, Teddy Bloom wrote the lyrics in response to the ongoing police corruption in the U.S. and global racism. TÜLIPS started playing it in our sets that fall, and we headed to the studio in the winter to record. By the time mixing and mastering was done, we had already played our final show. We shelved this and another song, promising each other we’d release them when the time felt right. We’re releasing this song because we want to show up however we can. Everything we make from “Panda” will be donated to Black Lives Matter, ad infinitum.
lyrics
Panda, panda, urban ruins
Killer! Killer! Feasting on the beat
Thirsting, thirsting for first blood
First born, first love
War machine distributes through glass
Your greatest fear, living in the capital of power
Inform informant seeking cover
Suit states leaking files to
Enemy boarders your death threats
Misdirect for extra credit
Panda, panda, urban ruins
Killer! Killer! Feasting on the beat
Thirsting, thirsting for first blood
First born, first love
War machine distributes through glass
Your greatest fear, living in the capital of power
Inform informant seeking cover
Suit States leaking files to
Enemy borders your death threats
Next arrest, extra credit
Stuck under lock & key, I see your bullshit!
Whites of your lies triggers a response
Fighting Terror from terror terrorizing
Fight terror from terror terrorizing
Panda, panda, urban ruins
Fighting Terror from terror terrorizing
Fight terror from terror terrorizing
Jungle has got a price on your head
Recognize, don’t cut me out!
Lock & key, I see your bullshit!
Whites of your lies triggers a response
Fighting terror from terror terrorizing
Fight terror from terror terrorizing
Panda, panda, urban ruins
Fighting Terror from terror terrorizing
Fight terror from terror terrorizing
Jungle has got a price on your head
Recognize, don’t cut me out!

Dirtbag Transformation: "What is this?" was my first reaction. But what an amazing song. It reminds me a bit of the Pixies in how it pulls together dissonance and then resolves. malfunction54
